Who is Kevin Black, Jr.?

You can say that being a lawyer is in my blood, at least if you ask the firm’s founding and managing partner, who studied for the bar exam while rocking me to sleep. After a circuitous path from undergrad to multiple non-legal related career stops, I found my way to the Quinnipiac University School of Law. There, I spent three years refining and preparing to join the criminal bar in Connecticut, gaining experience during school as both a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney. I knew that I wanted to be a courtroom advocate, so I focused my efforts and academic curriculum around it. I was Vice President of Mock Trial and Moot Court, and graduated with honors concentrations in Criminal Law & Advocacy and Civil Advocacy & Dispute Resolution (I also graduated cum laude).

After graduating, I worked for the Division of Criminal Justice as an appellate prosecutor, where I wrote appellate briefs on behalf of the State of Connecticut. From there, I first joined Senior and Doug Bayer at the law firm Bayer & Black, P.C., where I remained until starting Black’s Law Group with Senior (and fulfilling a lifelong dream in the process). On the defense side, I have represented clients in a variety of felony and misdemeanor matters throughout Connecticut’s criminal courts, am an approved assigned counselor for the Office of the Chief Public Defender, and regularly handled restraining order matters on both sides of the case.

I love what I do and I am not just saying that. I cannot get enough of being in the courtroom. I continue to volunteer my time as a mock trial coach at Immaculate High School in Danbury and Quinnipiac University School of Law. When I’m not coaching others in mock trial, you can probably find me walking my 4.5 month old puppy, Luna, with my fiancée at any number of places throughout Fairfield County.
